stewpic says: A familiar sight from the South bank this white building shows up perfectly with the dark sky backdrop.
clifsnap says: Gorgeous photograph, caught that sky really well. Centre point ? is starting to irritate me poking up when it's not wanted.

hi tony - lovely cloudy sky with the buildings in the sun from National Theatre (?). And that looks like Centre Point to me. - robert
twig® says:
Was Centre Point ever wanted?
The river makes a great space ...
tonyhall says: Stewart, the building with the huge clock was built in 1931 and is the former HQ for Shell-BP.
tonyhall says: Clif, I could sit here in the Royal Festival Hall and wait for the scene to construct itself.
tonyhall says: Robert, Centre Point it is, I try not to think about it.
tonyhall says: Twig, Centre Point by Richard Seifert sums up a particular set of architectural and cultural attitudes in the 60s. I wonder if we could imagine making this private building really useful to the public in the 21st Century. So many buildings would change their meaning if they became public. Centre Point could even become a Sky Village
Paul v2.0 says: nicely framed shot tony .. i like the subtext, sorta like from a perspective of a person NOT enclosed in buildings working very hard to make their clock go 'round. :)
^Tom says: Tony, I've been thinking about your words. It sometimes seems that you think that mainstream work is complete bollocks and that all people who work in institutions are wasting their time. On the other hand you've taken this picture from the Royal Festival Hall, a place that you use frequently and seem to like, and which at root is the product of a team of people who worked in an institution that used to be just down the road.
tonyhall says: Paul, I was enclosed in one of the buildings just round the back of this one for five years, work life was about dead-lines, that nearly sent me over the edge. Now I just try and exist without trying to be too concerned with time.
tonyhall says: Tom, I'm glad I'm not involved in working in offices 9-5 and I did feel when I was working in offices that it often felt like a waste of time.
